Anime North has been running for 20 years now, and I am happy to have been participating for over half of that time. This year’s convention was one of the warmest I can remember, but that didn’t stop the festivities and the amount of attendees seems to continue to grow every year.
With the yearly event continuing to incorporate an increased look at world pop culture, it was excellent to see such a strong showing at the consulate’s Anime+Ramen panel discussion, which I was honored to be able to participate in. Chefs, and cultural observers joined to provide an interesting and entertaining discussion on the famous Japanese food from multiple perspectives.
There’s something very unique and inviting about the event, especially compared so larger conventions. It’s retained a lot of heart and community even as it grows; and thanks to the staff, volunteers, guests, and attendees, Anime North remains a yearly highlight for many people from around the GTA and beyond.
