A night of incredible sunsets, nighttime skylines, massive moons on the horizon and not one but two proposals! But wait, there was more! Great people, tonnes of delicious food, a big ol’ dance floor and… and… okay, you probably get it. JETAA Toronto had an awesome night on the boat.
If you missed out on our epic summer sunset cruise, well… shucks… you missed out on a great time! That’s okay, there will be plenty more great events to come as the year carries on. But let’s share some more juicy details! We took a tour of the harbourfront, in and around Toronto Island on the smooth sailing Obsession III. With a slightly delayed departure, courtesy of a half-dozen TTC delays and closures, we may have missed a bit of the sunset, but we got plenty of nighttime skyline!
The conditions couldn’t have been more perfect – warm evening weather was a fine farewell to Summer as we sailed around the Toronto Islands and into a clear night and a brilliant Harvest Moon. There was something magical about being out on the water with a can of sweet cider (or what have you – there was plenty to choose from at the bar!), waving hello to campers and residents sidled up around firepits and grills on the shore… Really, it’s hard to expect such a perfect Autumn night from Toronto.
Guests from as far as Montreal and Ottawa came out for the night, with many attendees dressed in yukata (Yes! Our advertising worked!). From bow to stern and everywhere in between, family and friends laughed, danced and forged new connections.
The night didn’t end with the docking, either, as a group of JETAA and friends decided to head on over to the nearby Amsterdam Brewery for a nijikai.
Thanks to everyone who was able to attend the Summer Sunset Yukata Boat Cruise, the event was a great success and the night was lived to its fullest!
