For the first time since Summer 2019, on June 24, JETAA Toronto was able to host an in-person P-Dot at the JCCC, and a nijikai!
P-Dot 2023 was a hybrid event, spread over a Thursday and Friday evening over Zoom, and a full in-person day at the JCCC on Saturday. JETAA Toronto volunteers worked hard over the past two months to prepare and present useful and important workshops. We hope that the workshops helped quell any fears and served to boost the participants’ confidence ahead of this exciting start of life in Japan on the JET Programme. Presentations included a day in the life of an ALT/CIR, work culture differences between Canada and Japan, crafting a jikoshoukai and self-intro lessons, classroom activity tips, living in Japan as a man or woman, finances in Canada, and much more.
After the final P-Dot day ended, about 25 departing JET Programme participants and 8 JETAA Toronto members and execs enjoyed a leisurely meal at a nearby sushi restaurant. It was a wonderful chance to get to know each other and for JETAA Toronto members to impart more advice and knowledge in a more relaxed atmosphere.
It was so nice to see all of the departing 2023 JET’s excited as they prepared for departure to Japan.
皆さん、がんばってください!Good luck to everyone! We know you’ll do great.
