We could not have asked for a better day (yesterday, November 15th, 2018) to do a Ramen Romp here in Toronto! We promised you relief from the oncoming cold, and boy did it deliver. This year’s Ramen Romp came on the first day of real snowfall here in Toronto – snow that stuck that is. Yeah, it stuck alright. It stuck to your shoes, socks, and soul. The TTC, for anyone riding it these days is becoming more and more like a crammed subway in Tokyo with bodies packed in, they just aren’t on time. And then there was the RAMEN! MMMM!
Ramen Misoya is Toronto’s first ‘Miso Ramen Specialty Shop’ I mean, it’s even in the name! 味噌ラーメン専門店
So for a past Hokkaido JET, you can bet I was excited to be checking it out. Hokkaido is, after all, the birthplace of Miso Ramen.
While there were only a few who braved the slushy streets and jam-packed 501 Streetcar, we all agreed that the weather and conditions only made it feel like we were back in Japan, getting ramen on the first cold day of winter. Even though there were only a handful of us who came, we had more new faces from our recently returned JETAA community than more veteran alumni. It was a refreshing mix of new and old and good times were had by all.
Sad you missed out on itching that ramen craving that kicks in? We’ll be back at it before you know it! Be sure to keep a watch on our website, our newsletter and our Facebook page and group for future upcoming events!
