On a drizzly Sunday afternoon in March, 10 people converged on Hamilton. Some had never set foot in this Brooklynesque town, while others more familiar with its sights and smells. . .
Sapporo Japanese Restaurant was the venue, and tabehoudai was the name of the game. The mission was mainly reconnaissance: to seek out JET alumni from the Greater Hamilton Area (GHA) and empower them by creating a new community of refugees of the Japanese education system. The Hamilton sub-chapter would be a forum for those too distal from the motherland — or too weary of braving the 401 and the Gardiner — to join all of the JETAA goings on in the GTA.
A small crew assembled and was fed them with endless plates of sushi, tofu, and ika pizza. Several years in the making, this expansion is now off to a good start. Standby for more updates on the steel town campaign. We can and we will succeed in the Battle for Hamilton!
