The 2nd JETAA Mokuhanga Workshop was held on the evening of Friday, August 10th and for most of the day on Saturday, August 11th.
Mokuhanga is a form of woodblock printmaking, using highly pigmented water-based inks. One of the most symbolic images of Japanese art is actually a mokuhanga print: “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” by Hokusai. JETAA Toronto survived 2 hours of ice and guiness at our annual curling midnight madness! Combining the best in sport and intercultural drinking holidays, 40 of our bravest members and friends took to the ice for a night of hollering, sweeping, “skipping”, and deftly maintaining our balance and our draw weight at our 6th annual JETAA Midnight Curling Bonspiel at the High Park Club on March 17th 2018. In the dark of night (okay, after work), in a lonely dojo situated in a quiet countryside (fine, downtown Toronto at dinnertime!), seven ninjas-in-training gathered. The doors shut. They were locked in! Too late, they realized this was no straightforward mission, nor a decisive battle against a rival clan, it was a test! Could they work together, strangers and friends to find the headbands and secret scrolls that would mark them as fully fledged ninja? (more…)
