Dear Friends of Japan,
On March 11, 2011, a powerful 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan, followed by a powerful tsunami. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced from their homes and the death toll in Miyagi prefecture alone is predicted to reach more than 10,000. During this difficult time, all of our friends and families in Japan are in our thoughts.
In an effort to contribute to the relief effort, the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme Alumni Association of Ottawa (JETAA Ottawa) is partnering with the Canada-Japan Society of Ottawa (CJSO) to organize an Ottawa-wide Japan Relief Charity event that would bring together the Japanese community as well as the community at large.
JETAA Ottawa will be hosting the fundraising event at the Westin Hotel in the Governor General Ballroom on the evening of Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are $40 each. Proceeds from the event, which includes a silent auction, will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami fund. Click here to donate online.
